Satsop Nuclear Plant

Satsop, WA

On the way back from Seattle, I took a detour to explore the abandoned nuclear plant in Satsop, Washington. The plant was never operational. After budget overruns and public concern over the safety of nuclear power, construction was finally canceled (along with several other plants in Washington) in the 1980s. Today, the cooling towers and reactor structures still remain in place. The facility is repurposed as a business park, and occasionally used for military training and movie shoots. It was a nice, rainy day to walk under the skeletons of the cooling towers.
